Apparently, when someone dies, the Department of Work and Pensions automatically informs TV Licensing, who in turn cancel the “free” TV license to persons over 74. It’s also a foot-hold to pursue new “occupiers”.
The reverse is not true. Persons over 74 must prove their age to receive a valid TV license, why isn’t it automated? Which makes me wonder, how many people pay when they are entitled to a free or reduced rate TV license?
